The Republic Central Colleges stands as mute testimony of the Founder's grear faith in God and love of people who can rise to heights compatible with their capabilities provided they are given the opportunities to do so.

Hon. Rafael Lazatin, the president and founder of the Republic Central Colleges was guided by his unquenchable desire to serve the public and inspired by the clamor of the masses for education when he founded this institution in June 1946.

founder
The founder and the first President of the College, Honorable Rafael L. Lazatin was a two-term mayor of Angeles City,a former provincial board member, a two-term governor of Pampanga, a former assemblyman of the Batasang Pambansa, a prominent educator, an agriculturist and an industrialist.

What now is one of the big private colleges in South Central Luzon started as "Republic Academy", a secondary school, housed in a rented residential house in Angeles, Pampanga in June 1946. It was founded as an answer to a pressing need at that time - a school for the many adolescents who could not be accommodated in the lone public high school in the whole province. A year after, the Elementary Department was opened.

In 1947 many students and parents expressed their desire that college courses be offered so that many high school graduates may be able to continue their education without having to go to Manila. Thus was born the Republic Junior College. Normal and education courses were offered.

In 1949, the education - conscious masses and the many employees in nearby Clark Air Base requested for the opening of other courses, and so the College of Commerce and Liberal Arts were opened. The name "Republic Junior College" was changed to "Republic Central Colleges". Later, Government Recognition was granted to all of these courses.

Heeding the country's need for Citizen Army Training, the R.O.T.C. Unit was organized and permitted to function by the Armed Forces of the Philippines on June 8, 1957. This was the first R.O.T.C. unit organized in Pampanga.

In 1961, a new teacher training course, the Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education, was formally opened with a government permit and subsequently, a government recognition. The course took the place of the Junior Normal and the B.S.E. - Inverted Course for the preparation of elementary school teachers. The teacher training courses then offered were Bachelor of Science in Elementry Education (B.S.E.E.) and Bachelor of Science in Education (B.S.E.). School year 1963-64 saw the opening of additional departments -- the Law School and the Graduate School.
